Ali is an experienced commercial lawyer with a specialization in bankruptcy, financial restructuring, and commercial law. Noted for his ability to focus on key issues and analyze problems with a practical approach, Ali is committed to achieving client objectives efficiently and maximizing the client’s recovery, while conserving time and resources to stay one step ahead of the opposition.

He has over 30 years of experience advising clients in connection with insolvency and related litigation. His clients include corporate debtors-in-possession, bankruptcy trustees, creditors, statutory creditor and equity holder committees, bondholders, financial institutions, and acquirers of distressed assets and/or debt both in and out of court. He also provides counsel to boards of directors on insolvency-related issues, including director and officer fiduciary duties. This includes commercial disputes arising out of the commercial code and breaches of fiduciary relationships.

Ali has industry experience in manufacturing, real estate, construction, hospitality, energy (including oil and gas), telecommunications, retail, transportation, financial services, and technology industries, among others.  He has represented clients in bankruptcies involving mass torts and has successfully litigated numerous bankruptcy adversary proceedings and contested bankruptcy plan confirmation proceedings.

Personally dedicated to delivering pragmatic legal counsel and high-quality work product, Ali strives to continuously deliver a mix of insolvency and litigation abilities, and practical business know-how cultivated over more than three decades of practice.

Prior to founding Mojdehi Galvin Rego LLP, Ali was a partner at Baker McKenzie, Cooley LLP, and another Am Law 100 firm.

  • Ellis Island Medal of Honor, 2014. The Medal of Honor is given to individual immigrants who have made outstanding contributions to the United States through professional or civic accomplishments. Ali's pro bono contributions include the representation of a federal immigration judge in her lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice, alleging that the DOJ's recusal order violated her constitutional rights and Title VIl. The case resulted in the Department of Justice's order being overturned, review of the department's policies, and the department making a settlement payment of $200,000.
